My Mister and I have wanted to move to the country almost as soon as we bought our house in the small town where we live. We are use to more space, freedom to move around, and just a teensy bit more privacy. We have lived in our house now five years and every year it is the same old question, To Sell or Not To Sell. It's not that we hate our house, our neighborhood, or our town it's just that we are a little bit more restricted in what we want to do with our lives. For example, recently studying about how our food is raised, My Mister has decided we are finally going to get a beef cow. Great! I say, but we only have a 50X100' lot in the middle of town. How can we do that? That's another good question. I see my yard as a blessing, it's not too big that I cannot take care of it and just big enough to raise the plants, flowers, herbs and produce that I currently do. We also keep a few chickens. Five to be exact. Chickens like to 'free range'. They like their freedom. I find they lay more eggs when they can run around the yard instead of being 'cooped up' in their very nice pen My Mister and Young Rooster made for them. I do not think I could possibly handle many more chickens in our small yard with the new town ordinance and the fact that they simply like to get away from each other and spread out having a little alone time every now and again. So you see we are in a quandary. My Mister has partially left it up to me to find us a place that will suit all our needs and be within our price range. We happened upon a place in the past year that sold before we jumped on it and it was a great place. Before that we had found another place that we both loved and was well within our price range BUT was not in the country and we could definitely not have a cow. Yet it is still for sale and reduced in price. Now this week we looked at buying a place that was very much what we were looking for, giving up just a little bit of acreage. Looking at all the facts and figures it would be too binding on our finances which we do not want either. So then I called up the realtor. He then encouraged me not to sell until the market was better. The realtor did encourage us to buy since the market is so good for buyers, and then to rent out our house until the market improved and we could sell. Is that Gods answer I wonder...
When I read the scriptures in Proverbs 31:16 and it says "She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard." NKJV
I wonder what that looks like. What kind of a field did she buy, did she plant a vineyard for her households benefit or did she sells the fruit to merchants? This has been a question I have been seeking answers for in the past year and I believe it has two answers. The first is this, the field she purchased was a business investment so to speak to benefit her family. The second is this, the vineyard she planted and harvested had to be a large quantity of fruit. I'm sure her family benefitted and so did friends and customers. If we go back up into verses 14-15 it states this: "She is like the merchant ships, she brings her food from afar, she also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants." She needed to get her food from somewhere so that she could provide it to her household. So growing food is good as well as seeking a field to grow it in.
I'm going to have to rethink the direction we are going in with our searches for a potential moving spot. My Mister and I have some list making up to do to see what it is we are really wanting.
